Mandaikadu Bhagavathy Amman Temple:
Mandaikadu Bhagavathy Amman Temple is one of the famous Hindu temples in Kanyakumari District dedicated to Goddess “Bhagavathi Amman” (Parvati). This temple is also called as Sabarimala for women. This is the only temple women can visit temple with Irumudi as same as men go to Sabarimalai Temple. Here Goddess idol is made by ant hill and it is a believe that this idol is growing the size little by little every year.
Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple is located in Arabian sea shore, the nearest town is Colachel just 4 KM from this temple. Around this temple you can see full of greenery with coconut trees. Devotees from Tamil Nadu and Kerala visit Bhagavathi Amman frequently. Specially at the time of Mandaikadu Kodai Vila (Kodai function), more people will participate and will be more crowded. Mandaikadu Kodai festival is the major festival, celebrated every year last Tuesday of Tamil month “Masi”. There will be lot of special buses operated by Tamilnadu Government from different part of Tamilnadu. Especially from the nearest big town Nagercoil via Nagercoil-Chettikulam-Punnai Nagar-Konam-Rajakkamangalam-Ganapathi Puram-Allankottai-Kallukatti-Ammandi villai-Manavalakurachi-Mandaikadu Temple. There is an other bus root to Mandaikadu from Nagercoil is through Asaripallam.

Main Festival at Mandaikadu Temple:
Masi Festival or Mandaikadu Kodai Festival – 10 Days festival. Every year last Tuesday of the Tamil month of “MASI”, and festival starts at previous Sunday (10 days prior to this final Kodai Tuesday). Flag Hosting is the main event in this festival. During these 10 days of festival time, goddess will procession around the temple streets everyday at 8.30 PM.
During Kodai festival, sixth day festival is called “Valiya Padukkai”. Valiya Padukkai is the more important event and lot of devotees will participate form different part of Tamilnadu and Kerala.
Final day of the Kodai Festival (tenth day), Odukku Pooja will be performed at 1 AM. This is the last pooja of the Kodai festival for the year.
After the main Kodai festival, up coming 8th day Tuesday will be called as “Ettam kodai”. Special pooja will be performed for Ettam kodai.
Bharani Kodai: Bharani Kodai festival performed on star day of the Tamil month Panguni (Panguni Natchathiram). People believe that goddess Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman born in this day.
