Perunchani Dam is constructed across Paralayar River and tributary of the river Tamaraparani in 1952. Total length of the dam is 308 Meters with spillway capacity of 895 cumec. There are 4 spillway gates and maximum height of the foundation is 36.3 Meters. Maximum water level is 93.3 Meters and total storage capacity as 81.84 MCM (Million Cubic Meters). Nearest town of this dam is Kalkulam. Perunchani Dam is mainly used for irrigation purpose.
